Week of April 4: Women's History Month

1) This week’s playlist is dedicated to women as a late addition to Women’s History Month. It’s mostly cadence-driven with multiple progressive efforts.

2) Pedal, recover, pedal recover.  That’s often how spin class goes.  As you learn more about controlling heart rate, you can have longer conversations with the bike . . . pedal, breathe, pedal, breathe, pedal breathe. PEDAL BREATHE!

3) The playlist has a couple of samples — Nina Simone/Feist, Ann Pebbles and Missy. I love discovering the original tune and appreciating the additions made by another artist.
I really enjoyed the Kate Bush and Fiona Apple connection — Fiona talks about it here. Kate Bush’s “Running up the Hill” is referenced on Fiona Apple’s “Fetch the Boltcutters.”

4) As cyclists, we must be prepared to find the next version of ourselves on the bike. Fetching the bolt cutters.
I only got into Kate Bush as she wrote a song that Maxwell covered. I always wondered what Maxwell knew about “A Woman’s Work.” I got to see him in concert last week. It was awesome!
